The Kittens - Emma M.
I was in shock when the day came, a dream come true.
It was April 22, 2017, 1 week before my birthday, my mom drove my sister and me
home, and my brother to football practice.
After he was done with practice my mom went to my neighbor’s house across the street. My sister and I didn’t know it was her though, all we knew was that our neighbor had a car that looked like our mom’s car in their driveway.
Maybe three hours later my dad gets home and tells my siblings and me to go to the basement and watch a movie, so we go down and turn on the Sandlot. Little did we know upstairs our parents were playing with little kittens soon to be ours!
We were 10 minutes in the movie when our mom calls us to come up the stairs. We race each other and once I get to the door I opened it and I see my neighbor from across the street in my house in my family room! My sister said “You called?”.
My mom said “Yes, now sit next to that box”.
We look to see a big shiny golden box right in the center of the room. I sit behind it with my sister to my left and brother to my right. My mom pulls out her phone and starts to record, then says “Open the box now Emma!”
So, I do!
Inside the box were the most beautiful, fluffy, noisey, and curious kittens!
They jumped out of the box and roam around the house.
My mom said that the black and white fluffy kitten with a pink nose and paws with one brown spot on his front left paw, was mine and his name was Rizzo! My brother got the smooth black kitten with a soft white tip on his tail and on his chest, Gonzo was his name. My sister had the tiny grey kitten with a silky white splotch on his chest, his name was Riley.
Riley saw Bailey, our puppy, first and immediately hated her.
Rizzo and Gonzo ran under the table and meowed like crazy, RAAAAAAAR!
We quickly grabbed the tiny kittens and put them in a small room in out basement.
Since Riley was a rescue, he didn’t like the other two kittens so we had to keep them together for a few weeks and then they learned to love each other!
But what I learned is that kittens need time before they can get full advantage of the house, especially when they are such size!
