Book Review: Shine!

Image
Shine! By Chris Grabenstein This is a wonderful, well-written book that features Piper, a new student at Chumley Prep School. She doesn't feel that she fits in very well. In this book you will meet her new friends, as well as her enemy.  Piper does some things that may not sound extraordinary, but each thing teaches the reader a lesson.  This shows that being a good true friend can make the difference in someone's life. While not trying to ever be fake, Piper does some things out of character for her. You will love this story! By Clara B.  - 6th grader

Book Review: Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library

Image
Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library, by Chris Grabenstein This book may seem intimidating in size, but because it's wonderfully written and full of action, it can be read in a short period of time. I recommend this book for fifth graders and older. The book starts with the main character getting grounded. It leads Kyle to his favorite game maker. Using his smarts, along with his friends' smarts, they attempt to beat Mr. Lemoncello's awesome game challenge. This book has many exciting adventurous plot twists that will keep you guessing until the last page. By Clara B. 6th Grader

Book Review: Fish in a Tree

Image
You should definitely read this! Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt is one of my favorite books. This book portrays what good friends and a good teacher look like.  I would recommend this book to fifth graders and older. Ally is the main character who has trouble reading. She soon befriends Keisha and Albert.  With the help of Mr. Albert (her teacher)she faces all her challenges. This book is so well written that you will wish there is a second book written. The Kittens - Emma M.

I was in shock when the day came, a dream come true.  It was April 22, 2017, 1 week before my birthday, my mom drove my sister and me home, and my brother to football practice.      After he was done with practice my mom went to my neighbor’s house  across the street. My sister and I didn’t know it was her though, all we knew was that our neighbor had a car that looked like our mom’s car in their driveway.      Maybe three hours later my dad gets home and tells my siblings and me to go to the basement and watch a movie, so we go down and turn on the Sandlot . Little did we know upstairs our parents were playing with little kittens soon to be ours!     We were 10 minutes in the movie when our mom calls us to come up the stairs. We race each other and once I get to the door I opened it and I see my neighbor from across the street in my house in my family room! My sister said “You called?”....

When I Went to Cheetah Enclosure - Avery S.

For my grandma’s birthday we went to Florida. We went to Busch Gardens first. I love Busch Gardens so much! It was all fun,but my favorite part was the cheetahs. They were beautiful with black and brown spots, sleek golden body and skinny long legs. They also had a small head with peanut shaped golden eyes and a wet black nose. The cute black tear lines covered most of their mouth, but I could just make out a few clear whiskers on either side of their face. I loved every single cheetah and their cute little purrs but one, well one differed from the rest. This one still had a wet black nose and sleek build and long twitching tail. But all of the cheetahs were either pawing at dirt ( the dirt smelled bad!) or walking and looking. None paid any attention to the little girl in the pink and brown stroller. But one walked right up to me. It looked at me in a funny way. All the cheetahs looked at me but this one looked at me for a long time. It frowned, but I could tell it ...

30 Feet - Nino B.

It was July 30th 2019 When me,my sister, and parents went to Stoney Creek for the fourth of July fest. Let’s begin. As our car stumbled down the rough dirty road. Crack,Crunch,Pow!! The branches cried as our car gulied down the path. When we arrived we parked, firing a pebble into someones front bumper,When we just finished unpacking the Gibbs arrived.Julian was so excited he rushed to get the car door open and launched it right in to my Guts,I felt the pain sepp up my body like a sponge soaking up water, water as in PAIN. Without even seeing if I was okay he jumped out of the car screeching”BRO THE SLIDE IS STILL OPEN!!” Slowly  Picking my 87 pound body of the ground I regatherd my strength and slowly hopped up muttering”What slide”Juilan gasped, spinned and fainted.By then Luca had gotten out of the car and in aw said”Its 30 feet tall and best of all its a water slide!”Now Juilan had hopped up and was staring at me like I had 4 heads then replied”Not trying to scar...
